A Case of Vibrio vulnificus Isolated from Urino and Stool specimens in patient with Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Abstract

|
Vibrio vulnificus is gram negative curved rod and halophilic organism. We isolated the organism from urine and diarrhea stool specimens of a 47-year old male underlying with diabetes mellitus and hepatoma. This organism usually cause septicemia
or
wound
infections. But in this case, typical clinical features such as septicemia or wound diseases was not observed. For the diarrheal stool culture of the patient with hepatic disorder, the selective media such as TCBS agar should be added in order to
rule
out V. vulnificus infection.
